Your Starting Point
One day a traveler stopped in a small town and asked one of the locals, “What is this town known for?” The local said, “Sir, this is the starting point for any place in the world. You can start from here and go anywhere you want to.” I arrived in Lubbock Texas in 2001. I have always said humorously, “you can get to anywhere in the world from Lubbock.” This is a truism for all of us. Wherever you are is the starting place for you. Where are you in your pursuit of your goals…in your relationships…with your finances…and most importantly with God? Start here and start now! There is a remarkable promise in Scripture (Psalm 59:10): God promises to “go before you.” One translation says that He “shall be my champion. He will let me see my desire on mine enemies.”
My God loves me, and he goes in front of me.
He will help me defeat my enemies.
Psalm 59:10 NCV
Do you have some enemies that are holding you back? What enemy does the Lord desire for you to vanquish? How about the enemy of a bad temper, procrastination, victimhood, alcohol or sloth? What about the unspoken enemy of “I’m too young” or “I’m getting to old?” You don’t need to fret over your enemies. God goes before you to ensure you are the Victor. With one hand take hold of His promise and with the other hand take hold of His hand and start today.
“The starting point of all achievement is desire. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes a small amount of heat.” – Napoleon Hill
